I believe we can all be more self-sufficient. Prices are astronomical and it makes sense to feed yourself and your family. Farming and gardening have lost a lot of old-world knowledge, and we are constantly bombarded with gimmicks. My goal is to offer solid animals and gardening products without gimmicks and at reasonable prices.

My Mission

Rex Rabbits - Available Rabbits

Breed Spotlight

Breeding and raising Rex Rabbits for sustainable meat source and for fertilizer for our garden. We do not currently show our rabbits and offer our rabbits for homestead use. Our focus in our breeding program is mothering ability, ease of breeding, mild temperaments and grow out of the kits. Colors we raise are Castor, Chocolate, Blue, Black, Black Otter and Chocolate Otter. We may have a Red Rex program next year as well as REW and Blue and Lilac Otters.

We sell as primarily Homestead Rabbits. As a result, our choices on who to keep may differ from a show breeder. We are working on a couple of lines that can produce showable bunnies but for now that is not the primary goal of our rabbitry. We do offer Pedigrees on many of our rabbits that are of higher quality, but this does not mean they are show bunnies. This is to help you as the homesteader know who's who should they choose to breed rabbits for their farm. There are also bunnies offered as pet or meat pen rabbits. They will not come with a pedigree or tattoo as their intent is to be a pet or be processed.

Poultry Farming - Available Chickens

My goal in my poultry breeding is to breed for true dual purpose birds. I have tried fancy birds and found they just don't make solid homestead birds. Our birds have to feed us in both meat and eggs. They have to have good temperament and be solid foragers. No free loaders allowed. I have a couple of heritage breeds that are outstanding true dual-purpose breeds and Sex Link crosses that help customers get day old chicks as hens or roosters. Sex Link hybrids allow us to focus on increased laying ability in the hens and increased meat production in the roosters that come from these crosses.

Our breeds for 2024 are:

Neiderrheiner - which to us looks and performs like a barred Buff Orpington. They are pretty fantastic. We have processed several year-old roosters and they are still edible and delicious. They lay in the box and go up easy at night and the rooster is a chill fellow. So far they have excelled at their job here on the farm.

Salmon Faverolles - We are getting a new flock of Favs this year because over the years we have found them to be a solid meat chicken that we can rely on to provide good quality meat even in older age. Favs are not the highest laying hen but do lay through the winter and sometimes are the only eggs we get in the winter. The roosters are often docile and are good protectors of their flock. The primary reason we love this bird is that even at a year old a rooster is still tender enough to eat and the meat is outstanding. Second reason is we can tell roosters from hens within a few days of hatching making them a perfect early sexing breed.

Sex Link Hybrids we plan on in 2024 consist of New Hampshire roosters over 4 different breeds - Barred Rock, White Rock, Delaware and Dominique. The goals here being to know hens from roosters at hatch so we can sell the hens directly and feed out the roosters for meat. Each breed was chosen for hardiness, foraging ability, good meat production as well as strong laying. The combination of breeds will provide the buyer with birds that lay through the year and have hybrid vigor.

Pricing and Sales

Pricing is set based on investment and time into the animal. Older rabbits and more proven rabbits do cost more. I do a cost analysis of what it costs me to raise and care for the animals I sell. Our goal as a homestead is to produce for us and to sell the extra bounty we have. Prices are set based on necessity and are not negotiable.

All sales are final. I do not offer to take back an animal nor do I issue refunds should something unforeseen happen after the sale.

At this time we are cash only, on farm sales. We do not transport or meet you for exchange. You can text or email to arrange a time to come pick up your animals. Please bring adequate carriers with you. I do reserve the right to refuse the sale if you do not bring adequate transport.
